So, Being inspired by the bikes I pictured in my last entry I began working on a logo for the tank of the latest bike. I swiped the Henderson logo and modified it to fit Sully’s Garage. Well, the design turned out so cool I had to release another t-shirt. check out the new design shirt at cafepress/sullysgarage2

The tank version won’t be all distressed. I thought this made for a cool vintage shirt…

Here’s the new design that’s on the shirt…

Get the new shirt now!!!

So I finally think I am getting a feel for what this bike is going to be. I was looking through a vintage bike site and I came across these: first, is the 1929 Cleveland Tornado.

1929 Cleveland Tornado

Next was the 1929 Henderson Streamline Model KJ:

1929 Henderson Streamline Model KJ

So That’s kind of the idea. Old school cruiser. I like the blue with the gold striping and I might try to reproduce the pale yellow rims. I’ve purchased some wide beach cruiser bars and as the latest photos show I’ve lowered the front end back to stock and added running boards. I am still torn whether I should try to configure a solo seat or not. In the hopes of keeping cost down I think I’ll stay with the stock seat.

There are some before and after pics shown here. I have the bike put together and I am now ready to start customizing it. Not sure where I am going to go with this one. I think I may turn it into an old skool cruizer. Lower it, old school running boards, wide bars. maybe gold paint. We’ll see.

It’s weird being single, 40, no kids, and nothing much to do for Christmas. Along with trying to be more positive, I am trying to somewhat embrace the holidays this year and not be a humbug. In the spirt of the holidays I put up a Christmas tree. (see photo) Now I know it’s not much and a bit on the Charlie Brown side but it is a serious attempt to enjoy the holiday spirit. I wanted to keep it low stress, simple. Granted I have not put much effort into it. I bought the tree at the local thrift store for $3.00. Lights at Kings $4.00 which seems a bit steep as I could possibly buy the same lights at Walmart for .50 cents but hey don’t accuse me of not supporting the little guy. Actually King’s is a trip. It’s like an old throwback Woolworths from decades ago. I just found out the place has a basement full of toys! (bad puzzles though) I always thought the minute Walmart moved into town Kings was through but I think they might be able to hold on with the basement toy bunker. They may have to lower their price but that’s the free market system in action which you don’t get to see much of these days. Anyway, my tree is an honest attempt. The few decorations were provided by a good friend so we’re making progress. I like the thought of getting bobbles from friends to decorate the tree. Keeping it real. I received a great gift from my mom the other day. It’s one of those coffee machines that uses the little foil covered cup and brews a single cup. Man, I love that thing. The coffee is really good and works great for a bachelor like myself. Sprocket seems happy with his Christmas rawhide bone (see picture) which is great except he somehow manages to somehow perfectly hold it against the floor while chewing on it which turns the entire house into some weird sound box and amplifies the noise of his teeth dragging across petrified leather and makes it pretty difficult to sleep. Merry Christmas. Here’s to my new positive outlook. Merry Christmas and God bless us one and all…

Well some things are finally behind me. It’s been an expensive December thus far. First my car died. Bummer. I was driving into work and it conked out just before the turn in to Kimball Junction. I had my buddy Darren help me tow it over to Burt Brothers Garage. Man don’t ever go to those bastards. It turned out the fuel pump. They told me the part would be $600! Just for the part!!!! I even called down to the Nissan dealer and the part there was $400. Less than at Burt’s. Those guys really stick it to you. Anyway I had the car towed down to Chatarra’s Auto in Heber. They agreed to replace the part and do the tow for $300 (I bought the part used on ebay for $100) and actually it turned out the pump was fine. It was the sending unit that was bad. So for this ordeal I am out a total of $480 and I am stuck with a used fuel pump I don’t need (Guess I’ll try to rehawk it on ebay…) All in all it was cheaper than the $1000 bucks Burt bro’s would have charged me.

The second big expense was my speeding ticket. I got nailed coming into work about a month ago. It was 7am the day after I bought my BMW. I had to ride to work because I had left my car there. I was literally 1000 yards away from my office FREEZING. I decided to just gun it for the last little bit. Well, there the cop was. He clocked me doing 84 in a 35 (The bike has some serious pickup!!!) Anyway, I guess I was lucky because I could have gotten a ticket for reckless driving, had the bike impounded and lost my license. I went to court yesterday and met with the DA. We agreed to a guilty plea of 66 in a 35 which reduced the fine to $430 from $680 and hopefully it won’t ding my insurance as bad. Anyway my two day total $910. I guess there goes everyone’s Christmas gifts…

Folks better start buying T-shirts!
